Found an apartment

Congratulation! You have found an apartment. The hardest part is done. After signing the lease there are a few more things to do.

Furnishing your new apartment

Your funding agency needs a copy of the signed lease and the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung. While handing it to an employee at Sozialamt or Jobcenter ask about furnishing your new apartment. In some cases you may receive financial support if you do not have furniture yet. Jobcenter customers can apply for a first equipment in Form 3 (Antrag (Teil 2) auf Zusicherung der Kosten für die neue Unterkunft) under 'sonstige Kosten'. It will take some time to check your applications and to transfer the money to your bank account, so apply for it as early as possible.
